R & L Fastpace Farms is owned by Rick and Lesa Peters and is
located just east of Grinnell, Iowa. Established in 2004, FPF
was created by Rick and Lesa's combined interests of farming,
race horses and raising livestock.
Rick's attention to detail, and his ability to fix anything
that the rest of us break, puts him in the position of Farm
Manager and Saint. Farming about 500 acres, he raises most of
our oats, corn, hay and bedding. The animals benefit from what
we fondly call "Rick's Mix," a personalized blend of our
own grain, mixed with quality proteins, minerals and additional
supplements as the season requires. The shiny coats and the
slightly pudgy appearance of everyone on the farm speaks to the
effectiveness of his feeding program. He bleeds John Deere
green and can walk you through how to put an engine together
over the phone.
Lesa has no mechanical ability. She does, however, have a
strong educational background that supports the hands on care
and breeding aspects of the farm. 2012 holds the anniversary of
25 years as a registered nurse at Grinnell Regional Medical
Center. These years have been split working first
in Obstetrics...figuring out how the process works.... and the
most recent decade in the ED...learning how fast things can go
WRONG! Having a good back, and enjoying cleaning stalls more
than any shopping trip to the mall, adds to the assets Lesa
offers the operation.
Partnering with our kids gives us rewards in quality family time
and successful racing. We look forward to a summer of fun and
family in 2012. For more information, email us at

MAJESTIC VICTORY and AMERICAN NATIVE were purchased at the
Blooded Horse Sale in August. These additions along with
WIZSELL,
definitely expand the options the farm has to offer and after
some consideration the decision was made to advertise and stand
the stallions commercially. This in turn has led to new
construction and the addition of several new paddocks in
preparation for what we hope will be a busy breeding season.
